Masks will continue to be required for those participating in the Center's free HIV testing program, per the City's medical services mask mandate. Free wi-fi access is available throughout the building including our lobby, reading library and our rooftop terrace. In addition, there is a Whole Foods Market in the building with two levels of underground parking at Center on Halsted (note, parking is exclusively for Whole Foods customers). We provide operational support, space and resources for organizations that may otherwise find it difficult to interact and grow. We partner regularly with other organizations and groups from across Chicago and the nation to provide additional programming for the community.Ĭenter on Halsted also serves as an incubator for a number of smaller LGBTQ non-profit organizations, called Resident Partners. Our programs range from volleyball, dance performances and cooking classes to rapid HIV testing, group therapy and vocational training. We work hard to provide a safe and welcoming environment with programs and services for the entire community. We are open to the public every day from 8:00 a.m. More than 1,000 community members visit the Center every day, located in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview Neighborhood.

He is currently the Vice President of the foundations’ Civil Leadership Council.Center on Halsted is the Midwest's most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people of Chicagoland. Skip is also very active with the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Chicago. In addition to his service for the CBA YLS, Skip sits on the board of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) and is a former board member of the National LGBT Bar Association. Skip is currently on the executive board of the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) at the Chicago Bar Association (CBA). While at DePaul, Skip began his association and non-profit crusade as a summer intern for Lambda Legal. He received his bachelor of science from the University of Iowa and his JD from DePaul University College of law. Skip is a native of Illinois with strong ties to the Midwest. Prior to joining the ABA team, Skip spent the better part of four years practicing LGBT family law in Chicago. As director of the Commission, Skip oversees and is involved in the planning and implementation of many of the ABA’s LGBT initiatives including LGBT advocacy, ABA policy work, and legal educational programming. Skip currently works at the American Bar Association where he is the Director of the ABA’s Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.
